Please refer to Air Ministry letter (S.33302
(F.5) of the 1st October proposing to contribute 50% of
the cost of an extension of the aerodrome at Kai Tak, '
It seems to us that, before a decision can be
reached on this proposal, the actual origin and purpose
of the extension, the amount of the contribution, if any,
which can properly be justified and the terms on which it
should be offered require a good deal more examination.
Meanwhile we agree that the time is ripe for a
conference between the Air Ministry, War Office, Colonial
Office and Treasury to consider the general question of
provision of land at Hong Kong for Royal Air Force purposes
(the present position of which is far from satisfactory)
and we think the Kai Tak extension might profitably be
A discussed at the same time.
Whether or no there is any logical connection
between the two matters, it is only reasonable, now that
C.R. Brigstocke, Esq., C.B.,
Air Ministry.
